Brave Warriors lost to Bagthorpe

Hucknall Warriors U18s side were beaten 3-1 Bagthorpe Athletic in the Notts Youth LeagueDivision Two, despite not fielding a dedicated goalkeeper.

Warriors had the first chance of a high tempo first half as Ash Roberts shot just over the bar.

Roberts and Liam Burley then both forced saves from the Bagthorpe keeper, before Dan Noble headed just wide.

But a lack in concentration then cost Warriors dear as a ball over the top was met by the Bagthorpe striker who was able to break the deadlock.

Bagthorpe also hit the post in the closing stages of the first half .

The second half saw Warriors continue to battle however they were soon 2-0 down as Moran was unable to stop the ball creeping in at the near post.

However Warriors’ heads didn’t drop and Joe Cox came close before Warriors grabbed a goal back as Andreas Kokkinou headed in from a Stafford long throw.

With 25 minutes still to play the home side threw more players forward in an attempt to get an equaliser as Roberts saw his shot saved by the keeper and Alex Galloway shooting just over from an Atter pass.

But it was game over on 85 minutes when Bagthorpe got their third goal to seal the three points.

An excellent battling performance from Warriors that on another day may have seen them get something out of the game, the scoreline flattering the visitors. Warriors man of the match Lewis Nixon.
