BLOG: Catling's Corner - we did it the Mansfield Town hard way, but we did it, and Chris Clements was the star

After I missed Plymouth with '˜man flu' I was back at the home of football to watch Stags take on bottom of the league Dagenham and Redbridge.

We got back to winning ways with a 3-2 win but we don’t half do things the Mansfield Town hard way.

We were off it, in my opinion, for the first 45 minutes but got straight back into it in the second half, and thoroughly deserved to win come the end of the game.

It all started with a great goal to get us back into the game by the returning to form Matty Blair.

My man of the match was Chris Clements, who I thought was by far the best player on pitch.

Clemmo certainly is becoming one of our highest performers this season and it’s brilliant to see.

A major talking point was the penalty kick which was given and missed, it was a free kick at the very most for me, and it was definitely not a red either.

When was the last time we had a player sent off and it got rescinded? I honestly can’t ever remember a Stags player getting one overturned.

Please correct me if I’m wrong Stags fans?

I can’t go without mentioning the impact Adi Yussuf made after coming on as a substitute, and credit to Chris Beardsley for ruffling them in the time in which he was on the pitch.

If their keeper hadn’t had a really good game we could of been six or seven up.

And credit also to Scott Shearer for his save right at the end of the game.

Since he has come in for the Beast Brian Jensen he has been brilliant.

After the game I heard that former Stag player Junior Daniel could be on his way back to the club - for me he would be a good coup for the club, especially when we go to Bristol Rovers. Stags fans will tell you why.

We now head to Newport County and need to carry on our recent form and if we keep picking up the points until the end of the season no matter if teams have games in hand or not, we will still be in the play offs in my opinion.

So a good week and three vital points.

Well done Muzza’s men.

Come on Adam Murray’s barmy army and COYS.
