Bilsthorpe stay on title trail

Clay Cross Town remain top on goal difference after an expected 8-0 away victory at bottom of the table Welbeck Welfare.

They were two up at half-time after strikes from Aiden Ordidge and Gary Morton.

Morton added three more to his tally in the second-half while Ordidge also added a second. Barry Alberry and James Whitfield completed the rout.

But Bilsthorpe remain on course to win the title after they completed a scrappy 1-0 victory against Phoenix

Liam Black’s first-half strike was the only goal of the game and they remain level on points with Clay Cross with three games in hand.

Their nearest challengers for the title are Westella VIP, who remain a point behind Bilsthorpe having played a game more following their high-scoring win against third bottom Dinnington Town.

They made the perfect start, Chris Spinks scoring after just 12 seconds and they never looked back with Spinks adding another and Alex Wood also adding a brace.

James Williamson, Louis Haggitt, Andy Coverdale and Garry Flounders were also on target in their 8-0 home victory.

A Jordan Hall strike just before the break helped Glapwell consolidate sixth-spot in the league as they eased to victory over Brodsworth Welfare. Further goals from Daniel Russell and a penalty from Neil Grayson saw them seal a 3-0 win.

A 90th minute equaliser from Carl Russo meant Ollerton Town ended their season with a point away at Sherwood Colliery. Fenn Radford had given the home side the advantage as they looked set to earn their sixth victory of the season. However, the teams shared the spoils after Russo’s late intervention

Bentley Colliery moved to within a point of Easington United following a 1-0 away victory with Chris Scott’s 53rd minute strike separating the teams.

A convincing victory for Swanwick Pentrich Road helped them extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches in the Black Dragon Central Midlands League South.

Lewis Mason scored in the ninth minute to give the Swans a first-half advantage over second from bottom Southwell City.

Despite creating a number of promising openings, Southwell were unable to find a way back into the match, Ashley Buxton adding a second and Richard Wall slotting a shot into the corner four minutes from time to seal a 3-0 win.

The only other match in the division saw mid-table teams Linby Colliery and Blidworth Welfare share the points at Church Lane. Liam Theakstone gave Blidworth a half-time advantage, Dale Chapman equalising in the 50th minute.

Thoresby CW have set the record straight over the departure of manager Lee Tryner.

Chad printed a story last week after being told Tryner had been dismissed, but the club this week dismissed that story and said Tryner had stepped down due to personal circumstances changing in his life and his priorities changing.

Secretary Phillip North said: “Lee felt he could not for fill his position with full commitment and desire.

“Bringing Jason Truscott into the fold three weeks ago as assistant, Lee felt the need to step away and let Jason get to grips with the club and see out the season in his place.
