Exeter City’s Mansfield-born winger Lee Holmes looks set to return for the Grecians in their big play-off battle at home to Mansfield Town tonight.

Holmes leads the way for Exeter in assists this season with 12 and scored in the 2-0 win at Mansfield in November.

He missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw with champions Northampton Town but boss Paul Tisdale said: “He was touch and go for Saturday, so we just took a sensible view towards him playing.

“But I imagine he will be fit and available for selection against Mansfield.”

Stags boss Adam Murray has called on his side to end the season on a high by winning their last four games as his side cling on to their faint hopes of making the play-offs.

Exeter are two points adrift of seventh-placed AFC Wimbledon going into tonight’s match, while Mansfield are six points adrift.

Both teams have played a game more than the Dons and have just four matches left this season.

Mansfield go into the game on a high after thrashing local rivals Notts County 5-0 on Saturday.

After beating Carlisle United 2-1 away the week before, Stags tonight will be going for only their second win against a team in the top half all season.

For City, Joel Grant, who is suffering with illness, and Clinton Morrison, who has a groin strain, are both doubts while Matt Oakley and Will Hoskins will definitely not be involved.

For the Stags, central defender Krystian Pearce will complete a three-game suspension while midfielder Chris Clements is out for the rest of the season with a pulled hamstring.

Mansfield certainly have a score to settle tonight after being comfortably beaten 2-0 at home in a very below-par display against Exeter back in November.

The Stags conceded two poor first half goals and never looked like getting back in the contest after the break with visiting keeper Bobby Olejnik without a major save to make all night.

Stags thought they had solved goalscoring problems with 3-1 win over Hartlepool four days earlier.

But against Exeter they looked toothless once again as they ended a sixth game in seven without a goal to show for their efforts.

It was also a third home defeat in four League outings for Adam Murray’s men and saw them booed at the end by some of the frustrated home fans.
