Big freeze sees play-off rivals' games postponed

Eastwood CFC and Kimberley MW will be looking to get their UCL Premier North play-off pushes back on track this weekend after both had their fixtures postponed last Saturday.

Heavy snow on the Coronation Park pitch saw Eastwood's home clash with AFC Mansfield postponed and they will try again this weekend as they welcome Wisbech Town to Coronation Park

Kimberley MW's game away to Skegness Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch and they now welcome Deeping Rangers this Saturday.

The Red Badgers have only suffered one defeat in their last 11 league games, with three wins in the last four, their latest being a midweek 1-0 home win over Grantham Town.

Declan Dunn netted the winner on the half-hour.

After the break, Terry Atem blazed a 59th minute penalty over the bar for Grantham, awarded for a harsh handball decision against Phil Watt, and 10 minutes later Atem's misery was complete as he was shown a straight red card.

Eastwood boss Willis Francis said: “It was a really good result on the back of last week's game when we conceded five.

“We are really pleased with a clean sheet and we looked really exciting going forward.

“We rode our luck with the penalty but I thought we controlled the game and were very good in the first half.

“We have to keep pushing now. As long as we stick together and everybody from the chairman down to the players who are not in the squad.

“We all need to be pulling in the right direction. Everybody is a part of this – it's not just us and it's not just the players.

“As long as everyone is fighting for the badge in the same direction we can do something really, really good here – and that is what we are trying to do.

“It's not going to happen overnight but we will give it our all and work as hard as we can to try to be a part of that process for our club.”

Eastwood have allowed 17-year-old attacker Reuben Clowes to join Division One side Gedling MWFC on a short-term loan to gain valuable first team minutes.
