Leaders Clay Cross Town remain in top spot by two points over Derbyshire rivals FC Bolsover, who have a game in hand still to play.

Both teams had narrow wins as they continue to strengthen their positions, giving early signs it could be a two-horse race for the title.

Clay Cross travelled to Appleby Frodingham on Sautrday and came away with a 2-1 victory. Lee Clay got both for the Millers, scoring on 15 and 42 minutes, Declan Bacon getting one back for Frod with five minutes remaining.

It could be all change by the time Clay Cross next play a league match on March 25 to Retford FC, with Bolsover scheduled to play twice.

On Saturday, Bolsover took all three points from their match with Tideswell United thanks to a 40-yard thunderbolt from Adam Barratt.

Barratt’s goal was enough to maintain Bolsover’s incredible unbeaten league run, which stretches back to the beginning of October.

They are scheduled to play host to second-from-bottom Thorne Colliery and basement side Welbeck Lions on March 18 and 22 respectively.

While supporters will also have Saturday, April 15 (Easter Saturday) marked in their calendars when the top two go head-to-head. The match is looking increasingly significant in deciding where league honours will go to this season.

- Bolsover advanced to the semi-finals of the CMFL Challenge Cup with an extra-time 3-2 win over Swanwick PR.
