In the 17th minute, with the game goalless, Ogden made a great reaction save when a cross from Dean Oliver hits his Clipstone defender Matt Leyland.

The ball was heading towards the goal until Ogden stretched up his left hand to push the ball away to safety.

Ogden repeated his heroics late on to preserve the lead, fingertipping a Ash Dhinsa header on to and over the bar and then denying the striker again from close range.

Hoole said: ”’Oggy’ in goal pulled off a fantastic save and he got us the three points. Keepers don’t always get the praise but he has won us the game.

“We have showed another side of us. We have put in maybe four gritty performances and the players have showed they have a backbone and want to play for this football club.

“The back five were fantastic and defended well.

“My minimum is their maximum – 100%. Hopefully the fans can see what we are doing at the club, going forward.”

Liam Carrington struck what proved to be the winner in the 43rd minute, rounding off a good move by the home side. He received the ball just inside the penalty area, skipped past two challenges and struck a low left-footed shot past the keeper for his first goal for the Cobras.

Hoole added: “Liam always gives 100%. (Versatile) players like him are invaluable.”
