Mansfield Town manager Nigel Clough said his side would need to show the same attitude as in recent superb away League One wins to get past the FA Cup banana skin of a First Round trip to Curzon Ashton.

Stags face the awkward trip to Greater Manchester to take on the National League North high-flyers next month and Clough said: “It was an interesting draw.

“It will be all about our attitude. It will be their biggest game of the season playing a team from League One and I am sure they will be delighted with the draw.

“We need to show the same attitude we showed at places like Crawley and Northampton.

“They will view it as an opportunity for a bit of a giantkilling.

“It could have been better and it could have been worse – it's one of those.

“You'd like to be at home. When you see a couple of the draws you think I wish we could have had that one. But it is an opportunity to get through.

“They are going very well in the National League North at the moment and it will certainly be a tough game as these FA Cup games always are.

“There are no replays now so it will be extra-time and penalties if needed and we have got to get through.

“I think it has a chance of being on TV – there are a couple of others like Sutton v Birmingham that stand out and I am not sure how many they will show from the First Round.”

Clough has had limited, though recent, interaction with Curzon Ashton.

“I went up the with the youth team with Burton Albion a long time ago in our non-league days,” he said.

“I remember driving the mini bus up there and playing on their artificial pitch next to the main one.

“It's funny as I spoke to their manager a couple of weeks ago as Eric McWoods, who was with us pre-season, is trying to get fixed up in the area, so I spoke to them about looking at him in a trial.

“Ironically two weeks later we've got them in the cup.”
