Andy Buckley-Taylor’s Derby County Blog: Rams just not clicking at the moment

Derby head into a weekend clash with Fulham coming off two disappointing performances on the road.

A draw was achieved at Sheffield Wednesday despite the hosts having the best of the game. They squandered several chances and were left to curse not to curse a missed opportunity of recording a rare win over The Rams.

We did in fact have an opportunity to smash and grab a win when Johnny Russell was through on goal, however the chance was missed and we had to be grateful for a hard fought point.

Charlton away on Tuesday night was disappointing to say the very least! Defensive errors costing us very dearly! After keeping three clean sheets in the two league and one cup game before, Charlton put three past us! It would appear that Richard Keogh was amongst those to blame for all three including a penalty which quite remarkably saw him get away without even receiving a card.

Richard is a dedicated pro and I’m sure he will be back to his best before long.

The holding midfield role is still giving us problems, but why play Will Hughes there and have two players on the bench that are natural for the role? It’s time to start either Omar Mascarell or John Eustace who did a great job in front of the back four last season.

I feel at the moment things aren’t clicking elsewhere on the field either.

The side is crying out for some width. Perhaps a wide man will be picked up before the transfer window closes or when the loan window opens.

Saturday we face a Fulham side who have lost all three of their opening three games. There will be no place for complacency though! Bad runs always come to an end and let’s hope their current one extends beyond Saturdays visit to the iPro!
