Andy Buckley-Taylor’s Derby County blog: Feelgood factor and positivity is a great sign

We head into the international break after the game tomorrow with Ipswich.

We are overdue a home win against the tractor boys and what better time to get one than this Saturday.

After a few frustrating games, Derby finally got their shooting boots back on last week against Fulham.

It was so good to see the form of last season return. The feel good factor is back and hopefully will continue.

The visit of Ipswich last season saw a turning point in our campaign that I’m sure no one will need reminding of. The positivity around the club after that comeback was unbelievable.

We scraped a one goal victory midweek in the League Cup game with Charlton on Tuesday night, but their were some very good signs coming from that game too.

Under-21 players Alefe Santos and Ivan Calero both made their full debuts and both impressed too. It was Calero who scored the winner.

McClaren has not only added to the first team squad, but has also added some quality to the Under-21 team too. This helps bridge the gap from the Academy team to the first team.

It’s quite evident that some of the youngsters are already knocking on the door of a first team place too. I personally think that Calero may have a big part to play in the first team before very long.

So on to tomorrow and hopefully another three points!
