Andi Bell stresses Mansfield Town Ladies target 'has got to be promotion' after dominant 6-0 win
Mansfield Town Ladies are targeting a promotion push as their main aim this season.
Earning promotion up from the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League is something Mansfield Town Ladies have had their eye on for a few years now.
Stags are off to a flying start so far this season, securing their second win in as many games with a dominant 6-0 victory over Gainsborough Trinity. They kickstarted their season off at the One Call Stadium prior to that, with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Trent University.
The results put Mansfield Town top of the EMWRFL table but in what Andi Bell has described as a ‘really competitive’ division, the girls in amber and blue need to keep their foot on the gas as they move forward.

“I think it’s really important to get it right on both ends of the pitch. I think today we probably had five or six more opportunities that we haven’t taken advantage of. So there’s certainly things to work on but we’re looking pretty solid at both ends,” Bell told club media after the match.
“We don’t want to rest on our laurels, though. We need to keep improving in those places that we need to.”
After securing the double trophy win of the Nottinghamshire FA Women’s County Cup and the East Midlands Women’s Regional League Cup last season, league promotion is now at the forefront of Bell and team’s minds.
“Our number one aim has got to be promotion out of this league and into the next level. We’ve said it for a few seasons now and I think we’ve got a great opportunity this season but it’s about being consistent and making sure we’re stamping our authority on every game.
“No one is going to hand you anything in this league, it’s really competitive.”
