Mansfield Town midfielder Alistair Smith has joined Altrincham on a permanent basis.

Smith came through the Stags' youth system and made his first-team debut in the 3-2 EFL Trophy win against Scunthorpe United in November 2018.

He went on to make six first-team appearances as well as having loan spells at Loughborough Dynamo, Frickley Athletic and Kettering Town.

Beverley-born Smith joined National League Altrincham on loan in November and has helped the Robins reach the play-off spots in non-league's top flight.

On Friday it was announced he had made the move permanent after moving to Moss Lane on a free transfer.

The deal for the 21-year-old includes future incentives for Mansfield in the event of a prospective transfer.

A Stags statement read: "He leaves One Call Stadium with the club’s best wishes, and having made 16 first team appearances."
