With two draws and a loss to their name in the first three games, the Reds will be eager to record their first victory of the season.

Alfreton held a 1-0 half time lead against Brackley Town in their latest outing on Saturday but failed to keep the visitors at bay and striker Smith salvaged Brackley a point with a contentious goal from a free kick.

Gloucester have won one of their opening three games this term, a slender 1-0 victory over newly promoted FC United of Manchester on the opening day.

It was a perfect start, three points and a clean sheet, but two losses since then has dampened the mood slightly.

Gloucester will be happy to be back on home soil after defeats on the road against Corby Town and Stalybridge Celtic in their last two fixtures.

A tight encounter in their last game was sealed just six minutes from time for Stalybridge, thanks to substitute Chris Simm finding the back of the net, handing the Tameside club all three points.

Alfreton skipper Dan Bradley will miss the game due to a hamstring strain, as will John Johnston who is recovering from a similar injury. It is hoped ‘JJ’ will be back for this Saturday’s home game against Curzon Ashton.

Bradley received a three-match suspension as a result of being sent off in the home game against Lowestoft Town on Tuesday, August 11.

He will be suspended for the Vanarama National League North games at Solihull Moors on Saturday, August 29, at home to Gainsborough Trinity on Monday, August 31 and at Chorley on Saturday, September 5.

ATFC Supporters’ Association transport to this game departs at 4.15pm and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
