The league will be created in September 2015 and played in monthly sessions at Wirksworth Leisure Centre. It will cater for all abilities and for all ages over 16 and will be the only league of its type within Derbyshire.

It is hoped the league will introduce more women into football, and at the same time allow more experienced players to develop their skills in a competitive environment.

The league matches will be of 20 minutes duration with set rules, referees and league tables.

Dependant upon the number of participating teams, it may also be possible to arrange additional coaching sessions from qualified coaches.

To enter a team in the league please contact League Organiser, Jimmy Redfern, at [email protected] as soon as possible.

There will be a limit on the number of teams which can enter the league and it will be on a “first come, first served” basis.

Community scheme chairman John Glasby said: “This is yet another example of Alfreton Town Football Club’s commitment to the local community, and this time it will also help to fill an obvious gap within the women’s game.

“There is no league of this type within Derbyshire to our knowledge - how big this will grow depends solely on the interest generated from local teams and it will be interesting to see how many teams will commit.”
