Alfreton Town will herald in the New Year with a real mixed bag of fixtures against teams all in the top half of the Vanarama Conference table.

The Reds begin 2015 with a home game against in-form Lincoln City at the Impact Arena on New Year’s Day before making a long trek to the English Riviera to take on Torquay United on 4th January.

The following Saturday Alfreton are away at FC Halifax Town in the second round of the FA Trophy.

The first of the trio of fixtures brings Lincoln City to Derbyshire for the second time this season, the first being in an FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie which finished level at 1-1 before the Imps triumphed 5-1 in the replay in which the Reds were forced to play outfield player Anthony Howell in goal due to injuries.

It will be the fifth time the sides have met this campaign with Alfreton triumphing 2-0 at Sincil Bank in an FA Trophy first round tie and City edging the league points 3-2 on Boxing Day.

Another tough game is in prospect as Lincoln will arrive buoyed by a terrific 3-1 Lincolnshire derby win at Grimsby Town on Sunday.

For the game at Torquay, Alfreton will have the chance to record a second league double of the campaign having already defeated the Gulls 4-2 at the Impact Arena in front of the live BT Sport TV cameras back on October 11.

Any progress in the FA Trophy the week after will have to be earned the hard way as FC Halifax have already recorded a league double over the Reds including a 2-0 win at The Shay on 29th November.

The Reds ended 2014 without playing their final scheduled Vanarama Conference game at home to Dartford on December 28th with the game being postponed after falling victim to the heavy snow falls of Boxing Day.

It is to be hoped a New Year brings a new start for Nicky Law’s side as they bid to retain their league status and make progress in the Trophy.

Transport

ATFC Supporters’ Association transport to the Torquay United game on Sunday, January 4th will depart from North Street at 7am. Seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
