Following two cup exits in the space of four days, Alfreton manager Nicky Law will be eager for his side to bounce back in positive fashion in a game which can only be described as a relegation zone ‘six-pointer’ particularly from the Reds’ point of view.

Welling sit two places above Alfreton in the table in nineteenth place, with nine more points but having played two games more. A Reds victory could move them closer not only to Welling but Southport and Aldershot Town as the battle for survival hots up.

Manager Law will be without the services of central defender Duane Courtney whose hamstring tear will see him out of action for up to eight weeks. Also likely to miss out is midfielder Dan Bradley whose thigh strain may need a further week of recuperation.

Law will have more options to consider up front following the midweek signing of former Sheffield United striker Joe Ironside who has made a very welcome move back to the club.

And Law has also strengthened his squad by bringing in defender Callum Howe on loan from Scunthorpe United.

United are a formidable side at home and have only lost twice at their Park View Road ground with five wins and eight draws from their 15 home games so far.

Wings manager Jody Brown has recently strengthened his side with the transfer window signings of ex Birmingham City duo, striker Rowan Vine and centre back Darren Purse.

Welling are without a win in four league games, their last outing being a 4-1 defeat at Forest Green Rovers on January 4th.
