Alfreton Sunday League: Price is right for Jamie’s hat-trick

Jamie Price grabbed a hat-trick for Boundary Athletic in the only game played in Division One in the Alfreton Sunday League.

Richard Lee and Andrew Hodgkinson also featured on the score sheet as the hosts sent visitors White Swan packing 5-0.

In Division Two, things were looking good for Codnor Athletic as they led 2-1 at the break thanks to a brace from Ibrahim Ashoush. However, their opponents Jacksdale MW Athletic picked up the pace in the second half to run out 4-2 winners.

Littleover HM thumped hapless Heanor Phoenix 13-0 in the same division. Danny Evans took advantage of a wayward back pass to shoot Village Inn through to the next round of the Dick Windle Cup as they beat Amber Athletic by the only goal. A goalkeeping error gifted Marlpool United the tie as they beat hosts Jacksdale Social Club by the same score line.

The Gardeners needed extra time to put paid to Huthwaite. The teams were locked 1-1 after 90 minutes, but the home team ultimately ran out the 3-1 winners.

Curtis Sharples scored for The Hay but his side proved to be no match for visitors Rainbow International who went on to record an emphatic 5-1 win. Nigel Haslam scored twice with the other goals falling to Danny Hanson, Matt Brittle and Cory Bowler. The visitors are looking a potent force.

George Inn trailed Hayloft 1-3 at the interval, and looked to be out of the tie when the visitors scored again early in the second half. However, they set up a grandstand finish after pegging their opponents back to 3-4, but were unable to pull the game out of the fire. Hayloft’s achilles heel proved to be balls knocked into the box as all three goals they conceded were from crosses. Matt Wilders got two, his second a flying header from a corner kick. The third headed goal was courtesy of Ross Layton. The visitors’ goals were all well-crafted and knocked home by Luke Hufton (2), Lewis Allsop and Luke Morledge.
