Alfreton leave it to late to end winless run at Corby
Alfreton Town left it late but picked up their first win in seven games with a 3-2 success at bottom of the table Corby Town in the Vanarama National League North today.
A spirited Corby side had the best of the second half but Nicky Law’s men hung in there and took all three points after Leesley poked home a late finish with stoppage time approaching.
Heaton had headed the Reds in front off the bar from a third minute corner, but Anton Brown levelled four minutes later with Alfreton complaining keeper Matt Dukes had been fouled.
On 29 minutes Heaton headed home another corner to restore the visitors’ lead only for McKenzie to make it 2-2 from a corner on 36 minutes.
