Agents fees rocket for Stags after Evans squad rebuilding job

Steve Evans' big squad rebuilding job at Mansfield Town saw total money paid out to agents and intermediaries rocket for the Stags for the year ending 31st January 2018.

Stags paid out £85, 940 - the second highest amount in League Two behind Coventry City’s £113,620.

It dwarfed the £17,312 paid out between 2nd February 2016 and 31st January 2017 during which time Evans took over from Adam Murray as manager.

Stags were one of the eight lowest for agent fees last year.

This time they were second highest followed by neighbours Chesterfield (£80,477) and Notts County (£76,426), then Luton Town (£75,525) and Forest Green Rovers (£70,846).

Leaders Accrington shelled out just £9,632 on agents.

Total spent on agents for the division was £958,969, up from £821,450 the year before.

Biggest League Two spenders the year before had been Portsmouth (£175,344), Leyton Orient (£83,348) and Doncaster Rovers (£71,896), Pompey and Rovers going up and Orient being relegated.

Local rivals Chesterfield spent £92,391 on agents in their League One relegation season last year.
