AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson delighted with how Dons dug in for a point at Mansfield Town

AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson was delighted to see his side twice come from behind to earn a point on a sodden pitch in today's 2-2 draw at Mansfield Town.

James Tilley capitalised on a poor pass to level for Dons on 14 minutes after Jon Russell had given Stags a seventh minute lead.

Russell struck again on 29 minutes only to see Deji Oshilaja concede a 58th minute penalty that Matty Stevens tucked away.

“It was physically tough and very demanding as conditions were not great with all the rain. So we knew from the start it would not be the prettiest of games,” said Jackson.

“The pitch was really hard to play on so, in light of that, it was a really good game.

“Both teams went for it and tried to win it. Both teams could have won it and both could have lost it, it's fair to say.

“But I was very pleased with the way we dug in away from home when we had to and twice responded from going behind.

“That is not easy to do, especially in these conditions.

“We are pleased with the point, especially with the way the game went.”

He added: “First half Mansfield were probably the better side, but second half I thought we were really good.

“I am not saying we deserved to win the game but we were certainly worthy of our point.

“We are finding it hard to keep a clean sheet at the minute but we are being a bit more expansive with the ball and scoring goals.

“Mansfield are a good side and at home they cause you problems. We stood up to that for the main and had loads of moments ourselves.”
