AFC Mansfield continued their push up the NCEL Division One table with a comfortable 3-0 win against Yorkshire Amateur at The Forest Town Arena.

The goals came from Glyn Cotton, Craig Mitchell and Tristan Whitman, while the visitor’s woes were further compounded when Chris Hitchin was dismissed late on and manager Richard Addy removed from the dugout.

AFC Mansfield were feeling the effects of a busy programme and watching from the side lines were injured Jimmy Ghaichem, Tommy Hannigan, Mark Dudley and Dean Rick, while Craig Mitchell made his return from injury on the bench.

The Bulls got off to the perfect start after just four minutes with a Glyn Cotton 25 yard free-kick which goalkeeper Suwara Bojang tipped on to the post before the rebound hit the keeper and ended up in the goal.

That was probably the highlight of the half apart from Chris Hitchins high tackle on Cotton that could so easily have been a straight red instead of the yellow card given.

Hitchins did try his luck with a 30-yard free-kick on 18 minutes with the ball fizzing past Jason White’s right hand post.

The second half started in much the same vein and it looked as if the game would finish with just a solitary goal.

But the home side brought on Mitchell after 65 minutes and, within 10 minutes of coming on, he doubled their lead.

Mitchell fired home from 10 yards after his first shot had been blocked by Shane Harding.

The third goal came four minutes later when Whitman beat two man with a good run and rifled the ball past Bojang on his near post from 12 yards.

It got worse for the visitors when they were reduced to 10 men on 80 minutes when Hitchin received his second yellow for dissent.

Declan Brewin could have increased the lead on 84 minutes as he raced past two defenders before seeing his effort turned around the post by Bojang.

The youngster then headed wide from a Brad Wilson cross on 88 minutes.

The final chance of the game fell to Tristan Whitman, who saw his curling effort from the edge of the box was saved by Bojang at full stretch.
