Brian Clough of course famously managed both clubs, while his son Nigel wrote his name into the history books at Forest before going on to manage the Rams.
Clough isn’t the only man to have occupied the hotseat at both clubs with Billy Davies and Steve McLaren also joining that small club.
Like Clough jnr, Colin Addison played for Forest before managing Derby, while Mick Harford did it in the opposite order.
There’s also been plenty of players who have played for both clubs down the years – perhaps more than you think.
So with that in mind, here are just some who have crossed the big East Midlands divide.

5. Lars Bohinen
Bohinen joined Forest in 1993, helping the club win promotion to the Premier League. After a spell at Blackburn that lasted a little under three years, the midfielder was sold to Derby in March 1998, but struggled to make the same impact he had elsewhere, before seeing his contract cancelled in January 2001. 6. Lee Camp
Lee Camp came through the youth ranks at Derby and went onto make 97 first-team appearances in all competitions for the club between 2002 and 2007. He joined Forest from QPR on a three-month loan in October 2008, before returning to make that deal permanent in the summer of 2009. He made 193 appearances for Forest. Photo: Getty Images

7. Archie Gemmill
Archie Gemmill enjoyed great success with both clubs having won the First Division twice with Derby. Gemmill joined Nottingham Forest for £25,000 in September 1977 becoming the third ex-Derby title winning player of Brian Clough's to join him at Forest. He went on to win the First Division and the 1978/70 European Cup. Photo: Getty Images

8. Robert Earnshaw
Earnshaw spent one season with Derby during the 2007/08 campaign as the club sent their infamous record lowest ever Premier League points tally. He joined Forest in the summer of 2008. He scored 43 goals in 111 games for Forest. Photo: Getty Images
