A THRILLED Southwell squash instructor is celebrating after she was crowned the over 35's British Open squash champion.
Donna Vardy breezed through the field to win the prestigious competition dropping just 12 points throughout.
It caps a remarkable comeback for Donna, who retired from the sport in 1999 before returning to the court again in 2007.
Delighted Donna, who is a couch at Southwell Leisure Centre, told Chad: "It was my first tournament in 15 years and I really didn't think I would win.
"I was not the favourite to win according to the seeding and it is amazing to have won.
"I was really nervous going into the final because I was playing on the show court.
"I started the final well and I continued throughout, towards the end I knew it was going to be my day."
Donna is now in training as she prepares to take part in the next tournament, the British Open in September.
"I love the sport and am really glad I decided to get back into it. My friends encouraged me and it has just taken off from there. I am really looking forward to September."
