Davenport eighth in BDL race, Hallas takes U17 title

The 5.25 mile race was won by Joe Rainsford of Heanor RC in 27.23

First lady was Lily Winfield of Heanor in 32.22.

First Mansfield Athletic Club runner home was Colin Davenport in eighth in 29.54.

Alison Pye was first MAC lady home in 37.33, followed by Andrea Atkinson, in her first BDL race 42.21, Jan Forrester 1st LV60 in 44.13 and Emma Phillips 46.10.

The race was also in the Senior GP so Colin Davenport gained the 20 points.

The Winter League Series presentation saw MAC bag quite a haul.

MAC’s own Whitworth Thread parkrun goes from strength to strength with 115 taking part on Saturday and 30 new runners.

Mike Blair, Whitworth Centre manager took first place in 18.59.

MAC’s Ted Phillips was second in 19.33 and Birtie West third in 20.09. Michaela Dick was first female in 22.28, Matilda Maciejewski Spencer second in 22.55 and Kate Ruffell third in 22.56.

This was also in the Junior GP, with many young MACs grabbing points and £95 was raised for charity.

Also on Saturday the seniors were away at the BMAF Road Relays at Sutton Park, Nr Birmingham.

Three MAC teams were in action, the only local club with both men’s and ladies teams.

The Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire combined County Track and Field Championships were held on Saturday and Sunday at the Harvey Hadden Stadium, Nottingham.

Great running from MAC’s Joe Hallas secured him the U17 men title in the 3,000m in a time of 9.21 to become Derbyshire champion.

On Sunday he ran in the 1,500m and finished second in a PB time of 4.19.

Cressbrook Crawl Fell Race (10.5k/350m) took place on Saturday which is essentially a loop around the Wye Valley with good running conditions in fine weather.

Richard Bradbury ran a great race to come in seventh and second MV40 in 47.28. Mick Moorhouse first MV60 in 59.48, Charles Bennett 1.03.21 and Andrew Dinsdale 1.06.59.

The winner was Alasdair Campbell in 44.07 and first lady was Holly Martin of Pennine FR in 56.10.

Also on Sunday the Carsington 7+ (7.76 miles) run round Carsington Reservoir.

This is a fundraiser for Derby RSPCA and 365 people took part in lovely mild and sunny conditions, ideal for running.

MAC’s Jan Forrester completed in 1.06.26 and 1st LV55.

Not content with taking on the Peaky Freaky Duathlon in Devon in March, Christine Howard went back for more on Saturday 8th May and took on the Leaky Freaky Duathlon (5k run/45k bike/5k run/45k bike/5k run).

Running and cycling between the Roadford and Upper Tamar Lakes, crossing the Devon and Cornwall borders in stunning scenery.

Chris finished in 4.40.48 2nd L40.49.

The winner was David Bartlett in 3.42.16 and 1st lady was Amanda French in 4.15.00. There were 89 finishers.
