“I hope that next year we can maintain our success at both adult and youth level, to take part in and progress in national competitions and to raise sufficient funds to enable this to happen.

“The youth system at Cuckney is the backbone of the club and players who have come through that system are now playing in adult teams at all levels.

“The facilities at Cuckney are second to none and with excellent coaching available, Cuckney is the place to learn your cricket and progress via the Academy side to the highest levels of the recreational game and beyond.”

General secretary Jason Lucas echoed the importance of youth in Cuckney’s success both now and potentially going forward.

He said: “From my point of view the success starts from the juniors and works upwards.

“This is our platform and why our senior teams are very young. This is also the reason we are competing at such a high level, why we have gained this year’s success and the famous 1212.

“This will be remembered in the history of Cuckney Cricket Club for ever.

“Our fourth team policy of playing half the team with juniors is working very well. This year we have finished second, fourth and fourth in the U11s 13s and 15s and runners up in the 11s and 13s cup.

“That’s a great performance and one that backs up this year’s success of the 1212.”
