Weather frustrations for Derbyshire and Glamorgan

It has been a frustrating day so far for Derbyshire and Glamorgan after the start of the LV County Championship Division Two match at Chesterfield was badly hit by the weather.

Only 10 overs have been possible either side of lunch with 40 overs of the day’s allocation lost to a combination of rain and bad light with Glamorgan 36 for 2 having been put in on a green pitch under heavy cloud cover.

Derbyshire’s decision to bowl first was quickly justified when Glamorgan captain Jacques Rudolph saw the ball spin back into his stumps in Tony Palladino’s first over and there was another wicket for England fast bowling prospect Mark Footitt.

The left-armer, who was watched by National Selector James Whitaker, struck in his second over when he had Ben Wright caught behind but William Bragg and Colin Ingram have took the score to 36 for 2 between the stoppages.
