Thoresby chase down Retford's total at home

Persistent rain prevented play in two Bassetlaw Championship matches on Saturday, with only four of the six scheduled fixtures going ahead.

One of those matches ended in a weather affected draw.

But there was a result at Thoresby Colliery where Retford were the visitors and batting first the away team made 140-9.

Azar Hussain was the pick of the bowlers with 3-42 for Thoresby.

In reply, Thoresby made 145-3 with Nayeem Ahmed’s 39 being the highlight from their batsmen.

North Wheatley with Leverton’s Jonny Loates brought the Worksop innings to an early conclusion with his seventh ball, he ended with two wickets not conceding any runs.

Worksop totalled 94, only 75 of these came from the bat.

Although five of the bowlers for North Wheatley with Leverton took wickets with Alistair Skinner 3-21, the extras conceded were notable.

Loates opened the batting for North Wheatley with Leverton along with Aaron Wood who top scored with 35.

Only two wickets fell as the team made the 95 required.

Papplewick and Linby batted first at Farnsfield making 221-5, Sam Ogrizovic offered a knock of 69.

Leon Botha followed last week’s performance with an innings of 52 not out, showing his consistency.

Farnsfield were only able to offer 41-1 in reply before the rains intervened. This weather affected draw meant that Papplewick and Linby received ten points and Farnsfield eight points.

Whitwell battled to 71 all out at Clipstone. Mohamed Althaf Anwardeen made the greatest dent in this innings taking 7-30 for Clipstone whowere able to meet 75 for the loss of five wickets.

Glapwell’s home tie with Edwinstowe and Notts and Arnold Amateur’s hosting of Anston left all four teams with six points as a result of their cancellations.
