Thoresby Colliery enjoyed a comfortable 67 run over Killamarsh Juniors on the opening day of the aborted Bassetlaw and District Cricket League season.

John Skinner hit a superb 89 as Thoresby posted 217/6 in the Championship A fixture.

And it was too much for Killamarsh who could only make 149/7 with Adam Burgess hitting 50 of them.

In Championship B Cuckney II also enjoyed an opening day win after beating Notts and Arnold Amateur by 90 runs.

Cuckney made 185/7 with Richard Bostock’s 60 not out laying the platform.

Their bowling attack did their bit with Dan Hadlow (3 for 23) and Drew Owen (3 for 25) doing the damage as Notts were skittled out for 95.

Elsewhere in the division, Welbeck claimed the derby honours with a four wicket win over Glapwell in a rain-affected fixture.

Rob Davison’s 58 helped Glapwell make 172/6 off their 34 overs.

But it was not enough as Welbeck knocked off their reduced target after 23.4 overs.

Blidworth Colliery were also derby day winners after beating Mansfield in Division 1-B by four wickets.

Mansfield made 168 all out with Daniel Dallman the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 53)

Blidworth knocked the total off after 34.4 overs with Andrew Watson top scoring with 48.

Elsewhere in the division Farnsfield were beaten by Harthill by four wickets after failing to defend their 217/6 target.

Despite the good bowling displays of Thomas Davies (3 for 27) and Martin Mitchell (3-48) Farnsfield were beaten with two overs to spare.
