Stuart Broad hopes to play part in Notts' Royal London Cup defence

Stuart Broad hopes he will be allowed to play a part in Notts Outlaws' bid to retain their Royal London One-Day Cup title, including the match with Northants at Welbeck on 20 May.

The England paceman has been made available for three Specsavers County Championship matches during late April and early May against Worcestershire, Hampshire and Lancashire.

But the ECB have not yet announced if international players will be made available for early 50-over games, with the Outlaws’ fixture at the John Fretwell Complex being their first at home in the competition.

“I don’t think anyone has made a decision on the one-day games yet,” said Broad, who will return to Test action against Pakistan at the end of May. “It’s very much judging how the first three Championship games go for me, including two home games we have here.

“The plans are a little bit fluid, depending on the weather and if it ever stops raining, as it seems to have done so much of late!

“I loved playing in the Royal London One-Day Cup last year through all the group games and then into the quarters, semi and final, which was possible because I wasn’t involved in the early-season Champions Trophy with England.
