Senior Blidworth cricketers raise charity money

Blidworth Cricket Club hosted a seniors six-a-side competition which raised £3926.86 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Teams from Blidworth, Chesterfield, Farnsfield, Retford/Worksop and a Select VI competed for a cup and plate.

The reason MNDA was selected was that one of the club’s former junior player, David Bolsher, passed away earlier this year to motor neurone disease. David was a former pupil and head boy at Joseph Whitaker and lived in York.

There was some very good cricket played by veterans aged 45 and over with two players over 50 per side.

After a round robin battle, Blidworth defeated hot favourites Chesterfield in the final before two local bands, SheRox & Motif, entertained in the welfare concert room in the evening to complete a superb day.
