NPL weekend preview: Bears look to extend Notts Premier run

Top Bears, Cuckney, sit 29 points clear at the top of the table after their thumping win over previously second place Plumtree.

They travel to Ordsall Bridon looking to stretch their unbeaten run to eight games.

Bridon lost last time out to Rolls Royce and slipped into the bottom two as a result. They’ll be out to avenge their 43 run defeat from the opening weekend, when they slid to 101 all out.

The latest incumbent of the cursed second spot in the table is Caythorpe, who enjoyed a topsy turvy win over the Cavaliers.

They host Clifton Village looking to buck the trend of teams reaching second and then dropping like a stone.

Clifton have now gone six weeks without a win after losing to the Academy. They have positive memories of playing Caythorpe, having secured the best of a drawn game last time they met.

Having started out last weekend in seventh position, Rolls Royce Leisure found themselves third after their win over Ordsall Bridon.

They travel to Lady Bay to take on an NCB Academy side they have already beaten by 137 runs this season.

The Academy have found some form of late. After losing three of their first six, they have lost just one of the last five.

After defeat at Cuckney, Plumtree fell to fourth. They will be determined to get to winning ways on their travels to a Welbeck Colliery side reeling from becoming the victims of Radcliffe’s first win of the season.

The Colliers enjoyed a convincing win over the Plumdogs on opening day and will be looking for a repeat as they look to arrest a slide that has seen them win just once more since then.

The West Indian Cavaliers now find themselves in sixth place after losing two of their last three, but such is the parity in the league they are only 16 points off second place and 45 behind Cuckney. They travel to face a Kimberley Institute side that suffered a ‘Wright’ going over last week.

The Institute have avoided defeat just once in their last five outings, and will be looking for a repeat of week one when they skittled the Cavs for just 90.

Radcliffe-on-Trent are coming off the back of their first win of the season last time out, a win that lifted them out of the bottom two. They play host to Mansfield Hosiery Mills, who also won for the first time last week.

They suffered at the hands of Gareth Curtis first time around, and with both sides looking for points to keep the pressure on those sides just above them, it should be an interesting afternoon.

All games are scheduled to commence at 12.30pm.
