NPL ROUND-UP: Cuckney derby victory, Ordsall Bridon still winless, Kimberley pipped

They won the toss and elected to bowl at their hosts, watching on as the opening pair put on 66, Matthew Sisson making 50 before being second out.

Only Callum McKenzie (38) and Curtis Mitchell (36) were able to provide any further run support as Lewis Bramley (14-2-35-5) completed a five wicket haul, backed up by David France’s 3-36.

In reply, Cuckney lost an early wicket but a stand of 110 between Luke Thomas (71) and Adam Burgess broke the back of the target before Burgess (44 not out) and Nick Langford (40 not out) completed the chase with 14 overs to spare.

Plumtree climbed to third in the table after they got the better of a drawn game at Welbeck.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the in-form Hassan Azad was the star of the show.

He added 63 for the first wicket with Sam Storey, before combining with Ben Milnes (51) to add 159 for the second wicket and 51 with Joseph Tetley (30) for the third.

In Plumtree’s total of 282-5, Azad made 137 not out from 154 balls.

Welbeck made a solid fist of the run chase, but were always behind the asking rate.

Simon Widdup and Andrew Parkin-Coates combined to add 93 for the second wicket, Widdup then combining with Richard Stoh (52) to add 94 for the third wicket before falling for 108 from 122 balls.

Robert French hit 31 from just 16 balls to keep the home side in it, but they found themselves losing wickets before settling for the draw. Azad showing his all-round skills claiming three for 81.

In the lower reaches, Ordsall Bridon remain winless on the season after succumbing to a five wicket defeat at Attenborough.

Put in to bat by their hosts, Paul van den Heuvel (70) and Martyn Long (39) combined in an opening stand of 118, but with the departure of these two, only an unbeaten 34 from Liam Andrews was of note as Dominic Harvey (3-44) helped tighten the screw, Bridon closing on 207-7. Attenborough chased down the target with almost five overs to spare, Alec McKinlay leading the way with 51 from an opening stand of 93, assisted by Gurpej Landa with 32.

Matthew Cross made an unbeaten 47, combining with Ben Bhabra (32) to add 54 for the fourth wicket and take the home side to the brink of victory.

Radcliffe-on-Trent lifted themselves out of the bottom two with a tight win at home to Kimberley Institute.

After the visitors won the toss and put them in, Radcliffe lost wickets on a regular basis as they struggled to 166 all out, leaving just nine balls unused.

Ed Hodgson top-scored with 31, while Chris Glover (3-32) and Alex King (3-34) led the bowling. Kimberley’s reply looked in good shape as 38 from Alex King, 34 from Shaun Levy and 30 by Sam Johnson led them to 140-5, but Usman Muzaffar and Jacob Deavin-Baker had other ideas.

Five wickets fell for just 15 runs as Radcliffe secured an 11-run victory, Deavin-Baker taking 4-58 and Muzaffar the star with figures of 15-2-33-5.

At Birchover Park, the Notts Academy won the toss and asked the host West Indian Cavaliers to bat, restricting them to 214-7.

Adeel Shafique, opening up, made 42 with Dominic Williamson top-scoring with an unbeaten 85. Adam Tillcock’s 3-47 was the best of the Academy bowling.

A first wicket stand of 83 between Tom Moores and Anuj Dal (34) set the tone, Moores going on to dominate ensuing 40 and 69-run stands as he completed his century.

When he was finally out for 113, just 23 further runs were required. Despite a couple of scares, victory was completed with four balls remaining.

Caythorpe remain four points clear at the head of the table after a comfortable five wicket win away to Clifton Village.

After winning the toss, visiting skipper, James Hemmings asked the home side to bat on a day that would prove to be a rough one for those wielding the willow.

At 37-4 the hosts were in trouble as Aiden Morris joined Richard Harris at the crease.

The pair added 48 before Morris was run out after the bowler got a hand to a shot driven straight back at him.

Harris top-scored with 42 as Mat Dowman (3-36) and Hemmings (4-35) mopped up the remaining wickets to dismiss Clifton for 137 in the 46th over.

At 51-3, Clifton would have harboured hopes of making life difficult for Caythorpe, but a stand of 50 between Dowman (32) and Josh Mierkalns took them to the brink of the win.

Mierkalns finished unbeaten on 32 as the visitors completed their five wicket win in the 35th over.

At Station Lane: FARNSFIELD (2) 180 (M. Sisson 50, C. McKenzie 38, C. Mitchell 36; L. Bramley 5-35, D. France 3-36) lost to CUCKNEY (20) 183-2 (L. Thomas 71, A. Burgess 44*, N. Langford 40*) by eight wickets.

At Radcliffe: RADCLIFFE-ON-TRENT (20) 166 (A. King 3-34, C. Glover 3-32) beat KIMBERLEY (5) 155 (A. King 38, S. Levy 34, S. Johnson 30; U. Muzaffar 5-33, J. Deavin-Baker 4-58) by 11 runs.
