MP opens cricket club’s new building

Alfreton Cricket Club’s new pavilion building and refurbished club house was officially opened by Nigel Mills Amber Valley MP last week.

The opening is a culmination of several years of planning by the club involving the securing of grant funding from multiple local and national bodies.

All of the funders have been impressed with the clubs development plans which followed a period of consultation with the community, and requests from sports clubs, community groups and local schools, who would like to use the building as a base for activities such as orienteering and nature studies, but were constrained by the lack of facilities.

The club will be holding a series of open evening events with community groups that have expressed an interest to use the facility. These events will help the club work with those groups to increase the use of the facility.

Anyone wishing to play cricket or would like to know more about the potential uses of the facility please contact [email protected] for further details.

Club chairman Chris Slater, said: “We are delighted to have completed the redevelopment of the clubs facilities.

“It means the club can progress with its plans to establish the new facility as a valuable asset for the town and borough.
