John left Leicester in 1984 for 14 years and then moved to Glamorgan in 1984.

Unfortunately he received a severe hand injury in 1986, curtailing his first class career, but he captained the second team for six years and then became a well respected first class umpire.

John scored 15,054 first class runs at an average of 28.95 with a highest score of 195. He also held 413 catches in the first class mode.

His left arm orthodox spin gained him 584 wickets at 27.04 with a career best of 7-29, and he was just as effective at the one day game with 3,532 runs at 20.89 with a highest score of 108 not out, 146 catches and 293 wickets at 25.54 with best figures of 5 for 11. All in all he scored 21 first class centuries and 70 first class fifties.

This is the last meeting of the current close season and everyone is welcome to attend. It all starts at 2.30 pm.
