Glamorgan in strong position against Derbyshire

Glamorgan are in a strong position at tea on the second day of the LV County Championship Division Two match against Derbyshire at Chesterfield despite another four wickets haul from England fast bowling prospect Mark Footitt.

National Selector James Whitaker was again at Queen’s Park to assess the left-arm paceman and Footitt removed Glamorgan’s overnight pair of Colin Ingram and Craig Meschede but could not prevent the Welsh county taking maximum batting points in 78 overs.

Former Derbyshire all-rounder Graham Wagg made 62 from 64 balls, reaching 50 with consecutive sixes from the off-spin of Wes Durston and added 87 in 14 overs with David Lloyd who became the fourth Glamorgan batsman to make a half century.

At tea, Glamorgan were 403 for 8 and on course to win five consecutive championship matches for the first time in the county’s history.
