Footit takes six wickets, including 250th championship victim, as Derbyshire restrict Leicestershire at tea
Mark Footitt is ending another successful season on a high after his six wicket haul justified Derbyshire’s decision to put Leicestershire in to bat in the Division Two championship match at Derby.
The England fast bowler took 6-69, including a spell of 4-2 in 22 balls, as Leicestershire collapsed after a promising start with only opener Ned Eckersley getting to 50.
At one stage, the visitors were 154-8 but Zak Chappell with an unbeaten 33 on his first-class debut helped Rob Taylor put on an unbroken stand of 71 to take Leicestershire to 225-8 at tea.
That looked unlikely when Footitt had Ben Raine caught behind to give him his 250th championship victim and he has so far taken 72 wickets in the competition this season.
