Farnsfield CC lanch fundraiser to preserve future

The Bassetlaw Cricket League club say they have missed out on crucial fundraising events through the summer and need money to help carry out ground and facilities improvements.

Farnsfield launched the career of Nottinghamshire CCC players Paul Franks, Brett Huton and Sam Wood.

A club spokesman said: “It’s imperative we play our part and continue to offer cricket to future generations in the interest of sustaining the sport in our village and for others to have the chance to follow in their footsteps.

“Planned (for 2020), as usual, was a full programme of junior softball, junior hardball and senior cricket, alongside the numerous fundraising and social events that also take place throughout the year to support the success of the club.

“Improvements to the ground and its facilities is an endless list which includes, this year, replacing worn out equipment, investing in new netting areas, improving our second ground at Edingley, the home ground for the third team and older junior teams.

“The Covid-19 pandemic is having a devastating effect on the club’s ability to raise funds in the way it is accustomed. Any donation that you can make will be gratefully received and will help secure the future of Farnsfield Cricket Club.”

Cricket has been played in Farnsfield since 1817 and occupied the ground at Station Lane since 1862.
