Slater played watchfully in testing conditions on a pitch which had more life than on the first day and was unbeaten on 41 out of 98-2 when tea was taken early because of rain.
Batting was certainly more awkward and Derbyshire might have lost more wickets if Glamorgan’s bowling had been more consistent.
