The selection process focussed on association with Derbyshire, project delivery within the county, previous partnership work and the opportunity for Cricket Derbyshire to make a real difference.

YMCA Derbyshire is an independent Christian charity committed to helping people at times of need, regardless of their gender, race, ability or faith.

They provide housing for people facing homelessness, innovative learning and development programmes, various schemes for children and their families and other projects aimed at achieving sustainable community development.

The YMCA Sleep Easy fundraising event is taking place at The 3aaa County Ground on Friday 6th March, with around 100 participants sleeping outside so others don’t have to.

Ashgate Hospicecare is an independently registered charity that provides specialist palliative and end of life care and support to adults and their families across North Derbyshire.

Ashgate also provides a wide range of community based care and support services to enable people to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.

Derbyshire Carers (DCA) provides support, advice, information and representation to and for Carers.

DCA work to enable Carers to make realistic choices as to whether they wish to be Carers; and to value their own feelings and needs as well as the feelings and needs of the person they care for.

Cricket Derbyshire will promote all three charities through their channels of communication, as well as donating signed cricket memorabilia and exploring possibilities for joint fundraising events.

Derbyshire CCC’s portfolio of charitable work also includes the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation which will continue to deliver projects that benefit health, education and social inclusion across the county throughout 2015.

Successes of the Foundation in 2014 included delivery of the Heart of Cricket healthy lifestyle programme to 1,200 school children and highly attended free inner city cricket sessions in partnership with the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Derbyshire CCC Head of Commercial Ryan Duckett praised the initiative.

He said: “We received a high number of applications to be one of our chosen charity partners.
