Matt Wright, with 4-43, and Keshara Jayasinghe, with 3-45, shared the wickets.

Cuckney are the only side to have achieved two wins, but they were made to work hard by a Notts Academy side that fell to their second defeat of the young season.

The Lady Bay outfit won the toss and invited their visitors to bat.

Simon Webster removed both openers with just 16 on the board as the match started well for the County lads.

However, Daniel Wood (34) and Nick Langford (46) rebuilt, and had moved the score to 101-2.

From there, Sam Wood began to exert some control, taking 4-30 as a regular falling of wickets saw the Bears innings close on 180-8.

In reply, the Academy batsmen struggled to gain a foothold, falling to 86-5.

Webster, and skipper Paul Franks began to chip away at the deficit and had added 58 before Franks was run out for 32.

Webster followed shortly after for 39, but at 172-7 the Academy still looked favourites to win.

Enter Tom Driver, knocking over the last three wickets in the space of four balls, on his way to figures of 4-42, and securing a seven run win for Cuckney.

Clifton Village sit just four points behind the leaders, after they completed a 70 run win away at Kimberley Institute.

Clifton skipper Alex Turner called correctly and chose to bat - a decision vindicated as Le Breton and McNeill were compiling a 50 run opening stand.

Jon Shaw broke the partnership and soon after had a second wicket.

Scott McNeill continued and added another 50 partnership, this time with Richard Harris (30).

Harris became Shaw’s third victim and with McNeill falling for 51 without adding another run, things took a turn toward the home side.

Shaw continued to pick up wickets and finished the innings with figures of 14.4-0-56-7.

Having lost nine wickets chasing just 90 to win last week, the home team needed their batting unit to improve in order to chase 190.

Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t, only Dominic Wheatley with 38 providing any resistance as they fell to 119 all out, Martin Weightman returning 12.5-5-25-5 to lead the bowling.

Rolls Royce Leisure followed up their opening day win with a trip to Caythorpe where they came out on the wrong side of a drawn match. After calling correctly, visiting captain Dan Birch chose to take the field. A pair century stands bookended the Caythorpe innings.

Openers James Hawley 66 and Martin Dobson 40, put on 117 for the first wicket, before both fell quickly just after drinks.

Mat Dowman, 79 not out, and James Oldham, 46 not out, added an unbroken 122 as Caythorpe closed on 272-3.

In reply, Caythorpe’s slower bowlers choked the life from the Rolls innings, reducing them to 110-6.

Tom Lungley (58*) saw out the innings in a 72 run partnership with Suhail Ahmed as both sides remain unbeaten.

After last week’s topsy turvy defeat, West Indian Cavaliers paid a visit to Radcliffe-on-Trent, electing to bowl first after winning the toss, the hosts posting 193- 8 from their 50 overs.

Josh Mierkalns again top-scored, this time with 46 and Robert Sutton’s 33 and Ben Carr’s 31 provided the back up. Amar Rashid led the bowling with 4-54.

Cavs made short work of the chase, reaching the target in under 40 overs.

Akhil Patel was the mainstay, hitting an unbeaten 88, adding 59 with Usman Afzaal (30) and 77 with Amar Rashid (37).

Plumtree bounced back from last week’s defeat with a large margin of victory away to Ordsall Bridon.

Plumtree skipper Matthew Wood made the wrong call at the toss, giving Bridon the option.

It was all downhill from there for Tim Ward’s men.

The Storey brothers added 56 for the opening wicket and there followed a series of 50 stands plus one of 112 between Matthew Wood and Ben Thompson.

Plumtree finished their 50 overs on an outstanding 354-6, Sam Storey top-scoring with 86, Matthew Wood (79) and Ben Thompson (54) also passing 50.

Graeme White closed the innings in explosive fashion, smashing an unbeaten 47 from just 18 balls.

Aqab Ahmed achieved the dubious honour of conceding 115 runs from his 15 overs.

Ordsall’s reply rarely looked like threatening the victory target and ended in the 48th over with just 118 runs on the board, Martyn Long’s 30 the only significant contribution as Plumtree won by 236 runs.

Graeme White completed a quality all round performance with bowling figures of 15-4-19-5.
