Cuckney ready for Caythorpe challenge in Notts Premier League’s match of the day

Defending champions Cuckney travel to Caythopre in the Notts Premier League’s match of the day this weekend.

The home side have been in good form with the bat of late and are enjoying a five match unbeaten run, where as it has been the bowlers doing most of the damage for Cuckney, as they have continued last year’s habit of being very difficult to beat, having not lost yet this season.

Plumtree, who sit in third place, will look to capitalise on any slip ups by the top two when they travel to Birchover Park to face the West Indian Cavaliers. PLumtree have the league leading batter in Hassan Azad looking to continue his heavy scoring. Azad is two runs shy of 500 for the season and has a lead of almost 170 runs over the second placed batter. Cavs have been unusually inconsistent so far, winning three and losing three of their matches.

Welbeck lie in fourth spot and with Ordsall Bridon coming to the John Fretwell Sports Centre, will also be looking to close the gap on the top sides. They have more wins (four) than any other side so far this season. Ordsall have slid into the bottom two and have yet to register a win.

At the Clifton Campus, Clifton Village will welcome Nottinghamshire Academy in a mid table battle. Neither side has been able to find the consistency required to challenge the upper reaches of the table as yet, but will be looking to start that run this weekend.

The remaining two fixtures could have significant ramifications at the bottom end of the table. Attenborough travel to Radcliffe-on-Trent, where, with the sides sitting ninth and tenth respectively, a win could lift one of them well clear of the relegation zone. After good starts, both sides have struggled of late so will be targeting this game to kick start a change in fortunes.

In the other, bottom side Farnsfield are at home to Kimberley Institute. The visitors are level on points with Attenborough but a win here could lift them into the mid table pack. Farnsfield are in danger of being “cast adrift” at the bottom of the table. As well as struggling from wins, they have been unable to gather many bonus points either, particularly with the bat. A win here whilst not enough to get them out of the bottom two, would at least close the gaps.
