Cuckney extend lead - Notts Premier League weekend review

At 74-3, Cuckney’s unbeaten record was looking vulnerable, but Richard Stroh and Neville Talbot put on 55 for the fourth wicket before Talbot fell for 44.

Again the chase looked to have stalled at 157-6, but Ian Parkin (39*) joined Stroh (86*) and they put on an unbeaten 73 to see their side home with 10 balls remaining.

Tim Haines was the leading Caythorpe bowler with 3-51 from 15 overs.

Second-placed Rolls Royce had to settle for a winning draw at The Fieldings (pcitured) as Mansfield Hosiery Mills hung on, nine wickets down and 49 runs short of a win.

In a game reduced to 48 overs per side, the visitors struck 208-8 with Tom Lungley (61) again batting well with Liam Andrews (45) and Adam Shepherd (31) supporting.

Kyle Garside was the leading bowler for the Millers with figures of 5-62 from 14 overs.

Hosiery Mills lost regular wickets in their reply and eventually finished on 160-9 with Tom New’s innings of 69 the only one of substance. Adam Shepherd rounded off a good day with figures of 4-31.

Papplewick and Linby remain rooted to bottom spot after a 10-wicket loss to Welbeck at Papplewick Hall.

The home side were dismissed batting first for just 188 with only Mark Nelson (73) and Doug Morton (67) making double figures.

Rob French continued his excellent form with the ball taking 6-35 from 10 overs with Ash Willis chipping in with 3-25.

Welbeck’s opening pair of skipper Martyn Dobson (74*) and Matt Higgins (103*) made light work of their target, knocking off the runs in 43.4 overs.

The remaining matches were all abandoned due to bad weather, but the visit of the West Indian Cavaliers to Kimberley came closest to a result. The Cavs batted first and declared on 205-7 in 47 overs with key contributions from Dominic Williamson (55), and Usman Afzaal (77).

The home side looked in trouble at 69-6, but skipper Sam Ogrizovic (41 not out) stubbornly resisted before the game was abandoned.

The Nottinghamshire Academy also had one eye on the weather at Farnsfield when they declared on 229 for 4 after 44 overs with Sam Kelsall (58) and Hassan Azad (88 from 86 balls) putting on 146 for the first wicket.

When they had their hosts at 85-5, this bold decision looked like it might pay off but the home side recovered to close on 165-7, mainly thanks to an unbeaten 57 from 40 balls from Osama Alam. Brett Hutton led the attack with 3-34 from nine overs.

Clifton v Plumtree was reduced to 36 overs per side, but the game was abandoned after just seven overs of the second innings.

Visitors Plumtree lost the toss and would have been content with maximum batting points, finishing on 184-3.

Sam Storey (33) and Ben Milnes (69) put on 80 for the second wicket in exactly 20 overs before they kicked on with Milnes and Matt Wood (63 not out from 43 balls) putting on 84 in just 10 overs. Clifton’s innings had started well and they reached 28 for no wicket before the rain returned to finally curtail the contest.
