County cricket: Surrey move into good position at Derbyshire
Surrey’s bowlers have put their team in a good position on the second afternoon of the LV County Championship Division Two match against Derbyshire at Derby.
Tom Curran and James Burke took two wickets each as the home side were bowled out for 207 to trail on first innings by 32 and by tea, Surrey had extended their lead to 66 for the loss of Arun Harinath.
Derbyshire would have been further behind but for some late resistance from Tony Palladino who hit four fours and a six in an unbeaten 35 off 42 balls to secure a batting point.
Mark Footitt helped him add 30 for the last wicket and then knocked out Harinath’s off stump with the total on 12 but Zafar Ansari and Dominic Sibley took Surrey to 34-1 at the interval.
