Champions Kimberley move ever closer to perfect season

Champions Kimberley Institute kept up their astonishing 100 per cent record in the Nottinghamshire Premier League with a four-wicket win over Collingham & District.

With the title sewn up, the focus now for Institute is can they win their final three games and make it a 100 per cent league campaign?

After winning the toss and choosing to field first, Kimberley looked like they’d be facing a hefty target after Collingham reached 200 with only three wickets down thanks to Brett Ridgens (83) and Panav Pothula, who’s 105 came off 125 balls with 14 fours and two sixes.

But Aatish Kean Maharaj and George Bacon then sparked a collapse that saw Collingham lose their last seven wickets for just 62 to be all out for 263 in 49.5 overs, Bacon finishing with 4-57 and Maharaj 3-43.

Kimberley’s reply was given the perfect platform by openers Harrison Parker (75) and Bacon (46), who put on 112 for the first wicket and steady contributions thereafter from Matthew Campbell (33), Maharaj (26) and Harry Ratcliffe (35no) saw them overhaul their target with three balls left at 265-6 to make it 19 wins from 19.

Other results: Caythorpe 75 all out (Bush 5-12), lost to Cuckney 76-9 (Park 5-36), by one wicket; Mansfield Hosiery Mills 292-8 (Gumbs 97, Rogers 53no), beat Clipstone 288-6 (Thakar 80, Fletcher 64no, Chauhan 51), by two wickets; Notts Arnold & Amateur 217-9, beat Hucknall 197, by 20 runs; Papplewick & Linby 164 all out (Moor 50), beat Cavaliers & Carrington 113 all out, by 51 runs; Wollaton 261-7 (Van Vollenhoven 120no, Azad 66, beat Attenborough 196 all out (Jones 55), by 65 runs.
