Champions Kimberley Institute win while Cuckney seal third spot in last round of Nottinghamshire Premier League

On the final weekend of the NCB Premier League season new champions, Kimberley Institute celebrated their championship win with a five wicket win over Caythorpe at the 2bm Ground.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat in an innings that was over before it began.

Ben Savage took 4 for 25 as Caythorpe were reduced to 28 or 5.

Only a battling 52 from James Oldham took the tally to 113 all out from 33 overs.

Kimberley lost wickets at intervals, but paced by Dominic Brown’s 53 reached the target in only 22 overs.

At Plumtree, the home side won the toss and invited Clifton Village to bat first.

A 95 run third wicket stand between Aitizaz Khan (69) and Martin Weightman good them back on track after a shaky start, but with Glen Reid (3 for 60) and Bobby Gamble (3 for 28) keeping it tight, Clifton ended 193 all out in the 41st over.

League leading batsman, Hassan Azad, made 36 in an opening stand of 73 with Sam Storey.

Storey would go on to make 83, and feature in a 96 run secnd wicket partnership with brother Ben.

A pair of late wickets for Adam Shepherd couldn’t prevent the inevitable, as Ben Storey finished 49 not out to steer Plumtree to a five wicket triumph. Shepherd’s two wickets were enough to put him atop the bowling charts with a total of 48, one ahead of Glen Read.

Cuckney secured thirrd place after getting the better of a drawn match at the Notts Academy.

After being put into bat and making a solid start, led by 37 from Adam Burgess, Simon Webster grabbed 3 for 68 to put the brakes on.

Trent Lawford (38) and William Butler, with 50, both at better than a run a ball, took the total to 235.

The Academy made a solid start to their reply, with Adam Tillcock (41) and Tom Moores (44) adding 93 for the opening wicket.

Tom Keast’s 34 kept them going, but James Hawley took 5 for 87 in a late flurry of wickets.

Simon Webster’s unbeaten 37 was enough to see Academy to the draw, just 11 short of victory.

Ordsall Bridon completed their season with a 72 run home win over Radcliffe-on-Trent.

Batting first their total of 257 for 6 was built around an innings of 92 from Sufian Munir, backed up by 64 from Liam Andrews, 37 from Paul Van Den Heuvel and an unbeaten 30 from James Brice.

Asad Ali (4 for 39) and Aqab Ahmed (3 for 60) reduced Radcliffe to 75 for 7, before Jake Fish (37) added 54 with Jacob Deavin-Baker, who would make 59 before being last out with the score 185.

Farnsfield ensured Attenborough’s miserable second half of the season ended in the fashion it had begun in, as the beat their hosts by three wickets. After putting Attenborough in, they saw them make 198 all out as Sam Wood took 4 for 68.

In reply, Farnsfield made steady progress to their target, Matthew Sisson top scoring with 51, with Curtis Mitchell making an unbeaten 43 to steer his side home and Andrew Bell 30.

The remaining fixture of the day at Welbeck was cancelled without a ball being balled.

Despite that, the result saw West Indian Cavaliers leap above Caythorpe, to finish fourth in the table.
