Anston’s task of scoring the runs needed to win was made tougher by the bowling of Christopher Webber, who took 5-35. However, they achieved the victory with two wickets left.

Elsewhere on Monday, T. Ward scored 80 as Edwinstowe made 249, but J. Loates’ unbeaten 137 saw North Wheatley & Leverton manage a two wicket win.

Mansfield Hosiery Mills held onto their last wicket for a draw at home to Papplewick & Linby.

Chasing 278-8, the Millers ended the day on 160-9.

Despite figures of 5-42 by C. Harrison, Notts & Arnold Amateur breezed to a six wicket win against visiting Clipstone.

On Saturday Hosiery Mills added another points 17 as they batted first, scoring 183-6 from their 50 overs, with Matt New scoring 62, alongside his brother Joe New who made an unbeaten 50. Retford’s Pascal Broadley tried to stem the flow of runs as he took 3-31.

Retford were able to take six points having batted out their allotted overs in accruing 163-9 for a losing draw.

Papplewick & Linby held onto top positon as their fine form continued as Alex Lloyd with an unbeaten 171 and Justin Brathwaite 91, provided 262 of their 316- 7. This score was too much for Edwinstowe as the winning margin was 188 runs, nevertheless Tom Ward and Chris Dutton ensured Edwinstowe made three figures as they made 33 and 38 respectively.

Yet, the bowling of Charlie Blatherwick and Richard Hodgkinson in tandem took any slim chance of an Edwinstowe victory out of reach as they took eight wickets for just 47 runs between them with Charlie taking 5-25, and Richard taking 3-22.

The game between Clipstone and Kiveton Park involved a full 20 wickets being taken, Clipstone achieved the higher score of the two and beating Kiveton by 19 runs having achieved a total of 124.

Worksop and North Wheatley with Leverton’s game was a high-scoring affair, ending in a draw. Scores of 43 by Tim Smith, 42 from Chris Taylor and a 77 from Bernard Bheukman saw Worksop amassed 301-7 to gain full batting points while North Wheatley with Leverton’s only gained three bowling points as Callum Harrison took a five-wicket haul for only 47 runs.

This score of 301 looked above par as North Wheatley with Leverton’s innings ended with 215 runs accumulated for the loss of eight wickets.

Bernard Bheukman and David Hancocks both took three wickets apiece to put the brakes on North Wheatley’s innings as Jonny Loates, and Callum Harrison both made scores in excess of 40 with 62 added by their new overseas signing, Peter John Jansen.
