Chapman takes top honours at Sherwood Fishery Open Match

A tight finish saw Brett Chapman come out top with just 6oz to spare in Sherwood Forest Fishery’s Open match on Holmedale Lake on Sunday 18th May, where 26 fished.

With the carp spawning, there were no big weights like in the midweek match, but, fishing the pole and corn, he put 66lb 9oz on the scales.

Carl Brown fished the pole and pellet at peg 27 to land 17 carp to 5lb to clinch second place.

Near perfect conditions had resulted in some excellent weights in the previous Wednesday’s open match on 14th May on the Holmedale Lake.

Eastwood Angling boss Martin Brown came out on top of the 23 anglers, but did not having it all his own way, struggling for the first half of the match with just nine carp on the pole and pellet.

But when he changed to the pole and paste fished down the margins, he landed a further 31 carp to 9lb and put 162lb 1oz on the scales.
