The biggest roller derby tournament in the UK is coming to Mansfield for the first time this month.

With two wins under their belt this season, Mansfield Roller Derby are already on track to do well in the North West division of the championship.

Now they are set to play Durham at West Notts College in the town on 25th March.

The action will include an opening game between Wakey Wheeled Cats and York Minxters.

Team captain Laura Mitchell said: “We are so proud to be bringing the Roller Derby British Championships to Mansfield.

“Roller derby is an exciting sport to watch – it’s fast paced and tactical, with the added excitement of full-contact hits. There is no sport quite like it and we would love to see some new faces in the crowd for our home fixture.”

Mansfield started the 2017 season with a 200-point win against Grimsby’s Grim Reavers and then defeated Durham City’s Rolling Angels 398-38.

The team were established in 2012 and since then have steadily climbed the European rankings to establish themselves as a formidable club.
