Shirebrook boxing showdown raises £1,000 for Cancer Research UK

The showdown between local boxing club coaches Roger Brotherhood and Troy Kissane produced a superb fight and helped to raise £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The show at Shirebrook Leisure Centre was a complete sell-out with VIP ringside tables selling within weeks of being put on sale.

Long-term friends and rivals Brotherhood, of Team Body & Soul Gym, and Kissane, of Shirebrook Boxing Club put on a great show of pace, skill and aggression which was scored as a draw as a mark of respect to both men for the work they’d put into the charity show.

Alongside the Troy Kissane v Roger Brotherhood charity bout at Shirebrook, there were 10 other very evenly-matched bouts which saw Team Body & Soul fighters win them all.

Dean Taylor earned a second round stoppage of Dean Ragan in the opener.

Lester Keane achieved a first round stoppage of Ben Barratt, JJ Moore was awarded the decision in a superb fight with Wayne Roberts and Justin ‘Meatlfy’ Marriott won the decision over Carl Sweeney.
