The trophy haul was spearheaded by chief instructor Tim Niblett, a 6th dan master, who has been teaching martial arts since 1998 and boasts 27 years’ experience in the sport.

Niblett, a five-times world champion and a European full-contact champion, landed first place in his category at the open freestyle contest, which was held at Bushfield Leisure Centre in Peterborough.

Victory also went to Falcon’s assistant chief instructor Kerry Reeve (1st dan), who has more than ten years’ experience in martial arts, and to beginner Simon Crossland, who was making his competitive fighting debut.

Second spots were clinched by Daniel Stringfellow and Kevin Price, while Dorian Swiatkowski finished third. All three are newcomers to competitive kickboxing.

Niblett said he was proud of the club’s results in the tournament and was looking forward to taking a few more younger members to the next event.

The Falcon club, based on Wood Street, offers karate, kickboxing and mixed martial arts to enthusiasts of all ages. Sessions, including one-to-one, are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, while new fitness sessions are soon to be launched during the day. There is free car parking on site for all members.
